Looking into Special Effects

When looking at how to create the effect of the girl being hit by a car, I found a website called Video Copilot which took provided step by step tutorials through filming and editing on how to create special effects such as the car crash we hope to create:

I was intrigued by SFX when I discovered how much you can do with a great editing program such as Adobe After Effects and how real it can look. For example, they are used in high budget Hollywood films such as Mission Impossible and the Dark Knight.

While I was looking through this website I discovered many different special effects, I saw how advanced technology is and that anything can be created in the editing suite. For example, on their website they show the filming and editing of the following video they made:

Perhaps we could use Adobe After effects in our Thriller title sequence for the car crash by using the tutorials from Video Copilot.
